Who we are

This group was formed by Washington County residents in response to the proposed Cornell Road Transitional Housing Project and growing concerns about how the project is being planned and implemented.

County officials have indicated that the facility will operate as a low-barrier site, meaning there will be no background checks and no categorical exclusions for individuals with histories of sexual offenses or violent person-to-person crimes. The proposed site is located near parks, schools, churches, and residential neighborhoods — places where children and families regularly gather.

We believe residents deserve transparency, clear information, and a meaningful voice in decisions that affect community safety. Our goal is to raise awareness, share verified information, and advocate for reasonable safeguards, accountability, and responsible planning that prioritize the well-being of our neighborhoods.

Position Statement

The Oak Hills Board of Directors has issued a formal position regarding the proposed Cornell Road transitional housing project, reflecting the shared concerns and priorities of the Oak Hills community and many surrounding neighborhoods. This position is rooted in a desire to support compassionate, effective housing solutions while also ensuring the safety, stability, and well-being of all residents.

With that balance in mind, the Board has outlined clear, enforceable protections that are necessary to responsibly move forward—ensuring that any solution both serves those in need and respects the communities in which it is placed.
